Train to Machu Picchu

Service departures are from the cities of Cusco, Ollantaytambo and Poroy. Depending on the city you are starting your journey, you will travel by SHUTTLE + TRAIN or TRAIN  only.

The service offer by Peruways consist in 2 type of service:

• Shuttle+ Train
• Train only

Travelers traveling from/to Cusco need to take a shuttle service as there is not train between Cusco and Ollantaytambo because there is NO train station in Cusco city.

Peruways offer the Shuttle + Train service, with this service, you will board an exclusive minibus directly to Ollantaytambo Station, where you will board the train that will take you to Machu Picchu Pueblo (also know as Aguas Calientes).

What is the Shuttle + Train service?

This service consists of taking a Peruways minibus 1 minute walking from the Plaza de Armas of Cusco (main square) where you must arrive 20 minutes before the departure time. The minibus will depart from this point to the Ollantaytambo train station. This journey takes approximately 1h50min.

If you opt for an only train service from Ollantaytambo, trains will depart from Ollantaytambo station, which is an archaeological city locate 1h50m away from Cusco. The city is far from Cusco but most of train towards Machu Picchu Pueblo (also know as Aguas Calientes) depart from this train station.

If you opt for an only train service from Poroy, trains will depart from Poroy station, which is located 30 minutes away from Cusco. Although Poroy station is nearer than Ollantaytambo, there is less train offers from this station and cost tend to be a bit more expensive.

If you choose a service from Cusco, the shuttle service includes a FREE pick up from your hotel within central Cusco. Collections from hotels take place between 35 to 10 minutes before the departure time

• Infrastructure: Wider windows, outside observatory, comfortable seats and tables.
• Services included: Music on board, organic snacks, cold and hot beverages on board.
• Stations: Inbound: Poroy, Ollantaytambo; Outbound: Machu Picchu.
• Luggage: 8 kg / 17 pounds per passenger. Dimensions: 157 cm (width + high + long).
• Capacity: 30 seats per car.
• Travel Time: around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

If you choose a service from Cusco, the shuttle service includes a FREE pick up from your hotel within central Cusco. Collections from hotels take place between 35 to 10 minutes before the departure time
